Job Description

The opportunity
Join headspace Malvern, and be part of a supportive, values-driven team dedicated to improving the mental health and wellbeing of young people aged 12-25. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and empowering environment where young people feel welcome, supported and encouraged to seek help when they need it. 

This is a Max term Part-time 0.8EFT parental leave cover position based in headspace Malven from 30th November 2026 until 3rd December 2027 with the possibility of extension.

About the role 
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Team Leader to provide operational leadership and support to a multidisciplinary team, while delivering assessment, support and intervention services to young people and families. Using a trauma-informed, person-centred approach, you will help improve mental health and wellbeing outcomes and ensure young people receive timely, high-quality care and support.

This dynamic role combines operational leadership, staff management, intake and waitlist coordination, and direct clinical support. Working closely with the leadership team, you will lead and mentor staff, oversee service demand management, and ensure young people are connected to the most appropriate support through a trauma-informed, person-centred approach.

You will also deliver assessment, support and intervention services to young people, while helping create a welcoming and inclusive experience for clients, families and carers. Flexible service delivery includes face-to-face and telehealth, with occasional after-hours and off-site work.

What you will be doing Key Responsibilities
•    Provide operational leadership and line management to the Team at headspace 
•    Working within the Leadership team to manage rosters, oversee waitlists and demand management
•    Deliver individual, group and family support
•    Provide case management/care coordination to a small number of young people with complex and chronic risk

Desired Skills and Experience

What you will bring Key Selection Criteria
•    Relevant tertiary qualifications in mental health, alcohol and other drugs, social work, psychology or other relevant discipline
•    Demonstrated experience working in youth mental health, alcohol and other drugs, community or similar health services (minimum five years’ experience)
•    Experience and skill in brief intervention and clinical risk assessment and management 
•    Relevant training, experience or qualifications in leadership
•    Skills in working with young people across the 12- 25-year age group and understanding of relevant social and developmental stages

Compliance Requirements:
•    National Police Check, Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check.
•    Evidence of the right to work in Australia and a valid Driver’s Licence
